BEEP Akihabara

BEEP秋葉原

BEEP specializes in retro computing and vintage game hardware that goes deeper than the tourist-oriented shops, stocking Japanese home computers (MSX, PC-88, Sharp X68000), arcade PCBs, and original developer materials that collectors cannot find elsewhere.

BEEP occupies a niche that Super Potato and the larger Akihabara retro shops do not fill: Japanese home computers, arcade hardware, and the deeper collector stratum of vintage gaming. The inventory includes MSX, PC-88, PC-98, Sharp X68000, and FM Towns systems and software — platforms that defined Japanese gaming and computing in the 1980s but are almost unknown outside Japan. Alongside the computers, BEEP stocks arcade PCBs (JAMMA and pre-JAMMA), original developer materials, and a small but interesting selection of game music CDs and printed ephemera.

For console collectors, BEEP's console section is smaller than Super Potato's but tends to be priced lower for equivalent condition. The real value is the specialist inventory: if you are looking for a working Sharp X68000 with a vertical-scrolling shmup library, or a genuine CPS2 B-board, BEEP is one of the only retail options in the world. Staff knowledge is exceptional and extends into hardware repair and modification history.
