Den-Den Town is Osaka's electric town and otaku district — the Kansai equivalent of Akihabara. The district concentrates retro game shops, electronics vendors, figure stores, and maid cafes along Sakai-suji and its side streets.

Den-Den Town (Denden Taun) occupies a stretch of Sakai-suji and its side streets in the Nipponbashi area of Osaka, functioning as the Kansai region's equivalent of Tokyo's Akihabara. The name derives from "denki" (electricity) — the district originally served as an electronics retail center before evolving into a broader otaku and collector culture hub. Today the mix includes retro game shops (Super Potato, Retro Game Camp, and numerous independents), figure and model stores, anime and manga dealers, electronics surplus shops, and maid cafes.

For retro gaming visitors, Den-Den Town offers a compelling alternative to Akihabara: the shops are less crowded, the atmosphere is more relaxed, and prices on vintage games and consoles tend to be slightly lower. The district is walkable end-to-end in 20 minutes and pairs naturally with the nearby Kuromon Market to the east and the Namba entertainment district to the north. If you are visiting both Tokyo and Osaka, comparing prices between Akihabara and Den-Den Town before buying is a practical strategy.
