Japan Atlas uses cookies only when you consent. Our analytics (Plausible) does not use cookies at all. Our advertising (Google AdSense) and optional analytics (Google Analytics 4) use cookies, and only load after you grant consent via our cookie banner.
What is a cookie
A cookie is a small text file a website places in your browser. Cookies are used to remember preferences, recognize returning visitors, and measure how a site is used.
Cookies we set
Strictly necessary cookies (always set):
next-intllocale preference — remembers your chosen language (ja/en/ko/etc.).
Advertising cookies (only after EU consent):
- Google AdSense cookies (
__gads,__gpi, and others) — serve relevant ads. - Google Analytics 4 (
_ga,_ga_*) — measure ad performance. Loads only when consent is granted.
Consent management cookies (always set):
- Google Funding Choices cookies — record your consent choices per IAB TCF v2.3.
Cookies we do NOT set
- Plausible Analytics cookies. Plausible is cookieless by design.
- Social-media tracking pixels.
- Third-party advertising cookies beyond Google (we do not run header-bidding or multi-DSP programmatic).
